I am not a resident of Ottawa (Northwestern Ontario – near Manitoba border- in the sticks) but a couple of friends had the extremely good foresight to attend your establishment….. we came to watch Washboard Hank and the Rhubarb Boys… and of course last but not least Catfish Willie and the Buckle Busters.. never been one to listen to that style of music.. I had so much fun, the lyrics and the musicians were bloody brilliant… next time I am in Ottawa.. I am definitely coming back!!

I just wanted to thank you for bringing local acts like Bloomistry to the stage. I caught Bloomistry’s show on September 10th and it was awesome. They are a great band – excellent songs and fine musicianship. You’re going to need to knock out a wall to accomodate the crowd at their next Elmdale appearance! Shout outs to Roy for his hospitality, and to the ’sound man’ for keeping it real.

Thanks Elmdale folks! Loved playing the Elmdale on August 15th for our Rizdales show and for the 90 Pounds of Ugly CD release paty. Pickled Eggs, pickled sausages and getting pickled! Great time.

Just visited Elmdale House for the first time. It is a great place, best bar in Ottawa. Loads of character.

2009/5/5

I first stepped into the Elmdale in the 1940’s when my Grandfather, Horace Laroche owned and ran the Tavern.  I would bring him his lunch on my way to Connaught Public School and he would give me a glass of coke and he would have a draft beer with his lunch. I have since visited the Dale and it is great place to stop for a cool one.

Nat and Bruce, let me be the 1st in 2009 to write on here and to congratulate you on the ‘Dale. As you know Friday’s after work is my favourite time to drop by and see the many faces of the old gang.

Just to remind you Nat, our little Natalie is now 18. My how time flies by when you are having fun. Thanks for lending me your beeper and we will see you soon.

Yay! The Dale is such a great neighbourhood bar. Great live music, and really friendly and helpful staff. So happy to have a live music venue that I can walk to.

I walked past this place a thousand times before I finally went in . . . what a great place.

2008/9/25

I heard that Mike Yates and Ken Tizzard are coming to the tavern. When is this going down? I saw Mike play with his band at The Rainbow last week, and they are killer. I hear Ken is really good too.

A great place to hang out, night or day!

The Elmdale is a great neighborhood tavern!!!

Rumour has it that Beau’s Festivale & Festivale Plus beer will be available on tap soon – hopefully at the Elmdale (perhaps when the Oh Yeahs play on Sept 27th?). Looking forward to it.

Cheers!

Suz

ps: Another rumour has it that Rae Spoon may be performing at the Elmdale sometime this fall – any truth to that? Will keep my eyes peeled on the Upcoming events page.

We heard Ken Workman and the Union last Saturday and didn’t know they were local – they were awesome. Great place.

Our new favorite haunt! We live next door, and affectionately refer to the Elmdale as “our basement”! Great job guys!

Besides what’s already been said by the people in this Guest Book, I want to say that the Beau’s Organic Beer really is the cream of the crop of beers in my book. I’m not ordinarily a beer drinker, but I am finding the Beau’s beer a real and refreshing treat and find it hard to resist having one every time I’m at the Elmdale House Tavern.

We live around the corner and pop in from time to time. Don’t know the old Elmdale, but as a female, I feel comfortable sitting at the new Elmdale and having a drink. We’ll pop in to see the live music soon.

btw…any plans to get a food menu? Some nachos, pizza or wings are always crowd pleasers, and help the brews go down… :) Linda

I’ve just discovered the Elmdale and I think it’s fabulous! I love that you have Beau’s on tap and that you’ve got live music, often for no cover. Also the loonie pool table is a rare gem in Ottawa. All this to say, I’m looking forward to spending more time at “the Dale.”

Hi everybody. It’s been great playing harmonica at the Mississippi Blues Society blues jams on Tuesday nights. I can say that the Elmdale House Tavern is a one-of-a-kind venue with lots of promise. I can already imaginge the long line of stretch limosines parked along the Elmdale House during Ottawa’s Bluesfest with blues musicians coming to jam with us ‘after-hours’ and long line-ups of fans hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite blues performers…

The staff and patrons of the Elmdale House have truly made us feel at home. The open stage jams are loaded with talented players, the music doesn’t stop and the atmosphere is contagious.
Thanks, Bruce and Natalie!! You’re tops!!
Gary Sanford, President, Mississippi Blues Society

Sounds like a place that I would love to call “home”!
If I’m ever in Ottawa, you can be sure I’ll stop in for a pint and some Stones.

Cool place. A bunch of us went there after work on friday and we had a great time. The drinks are cheap, there was a lot of good music to pick from on the juke box, and the place rocked! Thanks Elmdale, for making Hintonburg better place to live and work.

This is a true gem for Ottawa. Great vibe, clean (wow on the washrooms!) friendly people, great staff and wonderful music. We’ve been there for Tuesday night Blues and it’s by far the best jam in the city, and we’ve been several times just for a beer or to watch the Sens, and it’s always been good times.

the elmdale rocks! I had my first drinks in this tavern, a LONG time ago! Nice web site btw.

I’ve been coming to the Elmdale since the early 90’s…not that long by some standards, but long enough to get a feel for the place. I really enjoy stopping in for a quiet drink in the afternoon…
